Girls Coding Challenge

Primary, Secondary

Every year, Technovation invites teams of girls around the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology. This global organization has created an eight-week challenge to come up with a technology solution (a mobile app or an artificial intelligence device) to a community problem.

Would you like to develop an app idea together with your friends? Nothing else is needed! Previous coding knowledge is not required. There is the Technovation curriculum (in English or in German) with step-by-step instructions on how you and your team can get from the idea to the finished app. Mentors have also kindly offered to support interested FIS girls through the process. You can then submit the app to the international Technovation Challenge and win great prizes.

The competition is open to girls aged 10 to 18 as well as anyone who identifies as transgender, non-binary or gender-variant. If you are interested, find some friends to make a team, or sign up on your own and get paired with other students in the area.

Just make sure you sign up as soon as possible directly on the website, and contact me at  to make sure that your team gets paired with a mentor.
