Tom Egerton – Director of the Franconian International School

I have worked in several international schools and the FIS is truly unique. Recently a guest who visits several international schools annually said to me, “Your school is different. There is a special tangible energy. Everyone seems to enjoy and take pride in what they are doing and learning.” My German answer was ”Ganz genau”, which means “You’ve got it right!”. I personally believe that what really makes the FIS special is a genuine sense of community and belonging.

Of course, we have a lot to offer: a constant focus on learning, an excellent academic program, a vibrant performing arts program and an extensive sports program. Our facilities are wonderful and well resourced and we are fully accredited by CIS, NEASC and IPC. You can read all about this on our website. But what truly stands out to me is the sheer energy of the school that you can feel from the moment you enter our campus, just like the visitor said.

This energy focusing on school improvement underpins everything we do, from our overarching focus on teaching and learning, commitment to international mindedness and service to humanity. Welcome to the FIS!

Director

What curriculum do we offer?

Overall our curriculum strives to help students think for themselves and be problem solvers and to make learning relevant to the real world. An important part of student learning is providing opportunities for service learning through CAS and other activities.

What are the facilities like?

The FIS has a purpose built facility which is the envy of other international schools boasting a modern, colorful and open learning environment. Facilities include spacious classrooms, three purpose built libraries, well equipped science labs, a gym and a football field, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and full WiFi coverage in both buildings.
