The second part of our BookBridge Exchange brought students from the Learning Centre in Arvaikheer, Mongolia, to the FIS, where they were hosted by families from our school community. Living with host families, students experienced daily life both inside and outside the classroom, opening up real opportunities for cultural exchange and shared learning.
Throughout their visit, students joined lessons, worked alongside their peers, and shared parts of their own culture. Break times quickly turned into moments of connection, with Mongolian games introducing new ways to play and interact. The program also included experiences beyond the classroom, from a visit to the Siemens Training Centre and a trip to Nürnberg and Bamberg, as well as a Basketball match.
A highlight of the exchange was World Book Day, where students took part in a book exchange that reflected what BookBridge is all about. Building understanding through stories and different perspectives. Cultural exchange also came through in music and dance, with students sharing elements of their heritage with the FIS community.
Experiences like these reflect the values at the heart of the IB. Students grow in their understanding of different cultures and learn to communicate and collaborate across perspectives. The exchange is not just about travel. It is about connection, curiosity, and learning from one another.
A special thank you to our host families and everyone at the FIS who made this experience so open, welcoming, and meaningful for all involved.
