The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualification

Last weekend, 18 students headed to Franconian Switzerland for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualification Expedition, hiking approximately 40 km over two challenging days.

As the final expedition following their earlier practice journey, students had to carry everything they needed themselves – from tents, sleeping bags, and iso mats to food and cooking equipment – while navigating the demanding terrain as a team.

Although the first day already brought its challenges, the second day especially tested everyone’s resilience. After a cold and damp night outdoors, students continued on through intermittent rain and difficult conditions, supporting one another and keeping spirits up along the way.

There were definitely some tired legs by the end of the weekend, but also plenty of moments where students showed real determination and teamwork. Taking on difficult conditions together and continuing to push forward is something all 18 participants can be proud of.
