The Fürth Math Olympiad and ISMTF

Primary, Secondary

Grade 5 to 8 students now have the opportunity to participate in the 26th Fürth Math Olympiad (FüMO), a challenging math competition consisting of three problems per grade level solved over the course of October and November. The due date for submission to your child’s Math teacher is Tuesday, November 28. This is an excellent opportunity to use problem skills, mathematical communication and make links to the local community and is open to all students who want to participate. The problems will be shared with students and they complete them during class time and at home.

The FIS has also become a member of the International Schools Mathematics Teachers Foundation (ISMTF), which is an organization that promotes mathematics education and offers mathematics competitions. For students in Grades 6 to 8, who wish to apply to participate in the FIS team at the ISMTF competition in Amsterdam in May 2018, it is a precondition that they participate in the FüMO competitions. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s Math teacher.
