Director’s Welcome

In-House

Dear Parents,

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of you for the 2017/2018 school year. A very special FIS welcome to our new families. I trust your journey with the school and your time in our region is a fruitful one. I would also like to welcome our new staff who have come from all over the world, bringing with them an exciting mix of experiences.

The school is opening with an enrollment of more than 700 students, the first time in the history of the FIS! Our new students have for the most part, adjusted well to their new environment. This is in large part to the caring nature of both teachers and students and strong support from home.

Apart from the weekly newsletter, I encourage you to follow what’s happening at the FIS through social media and grade level blogs. We have an active Facebook page and twitter account @TheFranconian IS. These sites will be regularly updated and will provide an accurate snapshot of what is happening at the FIS.

There is a lot to be excited about as we begin the school year. We are in the final stages of completing a new Strategic Plan for 2017/2022. Once the Strategic Plan has been approved by the FIS Board of Directors it will be published to the FIS community.

Parents are a vital part of our school community and I extend a warm invitation to be active participants in the ongoing activities the school offers, including parent information evenings.

Due to bad weather forecasts for this weekend, the PTO Welcome Back BBQ has been posted to Saturday, 9 September. More information under PTO News. I look forward to seeing many of you there and throughout the course of the school year.
