Welcome to a new GISST year 2017/2018!

Sports

With the beginning of the school year, our GISST Program 2017/2018 starts. The training sessions in Cross Country, Football and Varsity Girls Volleyball started this week. Our regular Badminton, Varsity Boys Volleyball and Swimming trainings will have a later start, mid-September. Please find more GISST information including the training schedule under Sports.

More about GISST

GISST (German International School Sports Tournament) is an organization, which we belong to along with 10 other International schools in Germany. Through the organization, our students are given an opportunity to take part in sporting tournaments and friendly fixtures in one of the following sports: Cross Country, Football, Badminton, Volleyball, Swimming, Basketball and Track and Field. GISST training and competitions are open to students from Grade 5 to Grade 12. Training takes place after school with friendly matches on some Saturdays and the two-day tournament to culminate the season.

If students would like to attend training for any GISST sports during the year, they must register on Schoolbase. You can sign up for a particular training group via Schoolbase by latest Friday, 15 September. In the past, some of the training sessions were very full and we had to restrict numbers. Therefore, please sign up for all sports as soon as possible.

Elementary School

GISST sporting events are only for students from Grade 5 to Grade 12, however there are two Inter-School competitions, which GISST organizes for our younger students in Grade 2 to Grade 5 in Cross Country and Swimming. This year we are planning to enter a team in both of these events.

Swimming Grade 2 to 5

Please note that swimming courses 2017/2018 are for intermediate/advance swimmers in Grade 2 to Grade 5 only. The FIS is unfortunately not able to offer any swimming lessons for beginners this school year. If you are unsure if your child´s swimming skills are meeting expectations of the Grade 2 to Grade 5 swimming course, please contact or come to the first training session on Friday, 22 September from 14:30 to 16:00 for a try-out. If you would like further details, please get in touch.
