As we stride confidently into the fourth quarter here at the FIS, we find ourselves reflecting on the completion of our IB DP and MYP assessments for Grades 11 and 12. Soon, we’ll be knee-deep in year-end examinations, swiftly followed by a flurry of report writing, collation, and distribution to our supportive network of families.
I am delighted to continue our exploration into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on education and society. In this third article on the topic, I am honored to share the perspectives and thoughts of our G10 students, Emma Hey and Nikita Stepanenko, on the role of critical thinking in AI and its relevance to our evolving educational landscape.
It is a cliche to say that the world we live in is in a constant state of change and it is vital that we prepare ourselves to adapt to these changes. Nonetheless, this does not make it any less true. As we discussed last week, AI tools will become a new normal in our lives, and it is essential that we are equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in this new era.

This year, one tool that has been causing a lot of debate in the education community is ChatGPT. This popularity has sparked discussions about its potential impact on education.
Get ready to mark your calendars because we’ve got an exciting event coming up – Community Days on June 5 – 7! Our team is working hard putting together an unforgettable experience for all of our students, parents, and community members. All students will be off timetable for these three days. June 7 will be the culmination of the days and will be a festival-style event named FIS Fest.
We would like to have as much parental involvement as possible and we need YOUR help!

At the time of writing, we are coming to the end of the last week of regular classes for Grade 12.
As we approach the end of March, we also approach one of the most exciting times of the year – spring break! This is a time for our students, teachers, and staff to take a well-deserved break and enjoy some time off with their families and loved ones.
