Not a typical destination, and exactly why it mattered.
A group of FIS students recently spent 10 days in Mongolia as part of the Bookbridge exchange, stepping into an environment that was entirely new to them. Living with host families, they experienced daily life firsthand, gaining insights that go far beyond what can be learned in a classroom.
From visiting a herder family to playing traditional anklebone games, students engaged deeply with local culture. They explored the vast landscapes of the Mongolian steppe, took part in shared traditions, and discovered both the differences and connections between their lives and those of their hosts.
The exchange is still ongoing, with students from Mongolia now visiting FIS and continuing the journey of learning, connection, and cultural understanding.
