Let’s Get Together Again!

PTO

Now that the kids have settled into the new school routine, play their sports and enjoy their after school activities, we think it is time that parents, staff and teachers also get together again. Here are some ideas on how to stay in touch and have some fun!

First Coffee Morning Today

We did it! We held our first virtual coffee morning today.

We had a number of you join and it was a great chat. Tom was there to say a few words and we had a lively discussion about how we could celebrate the diversity at the FIS through cultural groups and events as well as what topics we’d like to talk about in the next few sessions. A really nice group of people and a fantastic chat over coffee at home.

We are looking forward to the next one on Friday, October 9 at 9:30!

Events Coming Up

Erlangen city tour, Wednesday, September 16 at 8:45 (Meeting at school)

This is one of the rare occasions where we can meet up in person because this is a walk outside. The meeting point is outside the FIS main entrance and we will do a round tour and come back to the FIS. Staff and parents, everyone is welcome to join. This event is free but limited spaces due to Coronavirus restrictions.

We will show you the neighborhood of the FIS and walk into town, pointing out where you find shops, libraries, restaurants, etc. and try to answer as many questions as possible. It’s always a pleasant and fun time and even if you have been living in Erlangen for some time, you might find out something new. The walk is approximately 2 hours.

Please sign up here so that we know who to expect on the day.

Virtual wine tasting, October 16 at 19:30 (ZOOM)

A FIS first and we promise it to be an entertaining night! In cooperation with wine experts and merchants ‘Passion & Wine’, we are offering a night of wine tasting in the comfort of your own home. Staff and parents, everyone is welcome to join.

For EUR 55 per household, you will be sent 3 bottles of wine as well as instructions to prepare for the evening and a 1.5 to 2 hours guided wine tasting with two expert sommeliers. On the night we all come together in a ZOOM call and the experts take it from there. You will learn about wine facts but the evening is mainly meant to be fun. So come and join us. Spaces are limited. Please sign up here.

Virtual coffee morning, Friday, October 9 at 9:30 (ZOOM)

A great opportunity to meet old and new friends, ask questions, chat and catch up and enjoy a relaxed coffee or tea together. Staff and parents, everyone is welcome to join. This event is free.

We are planning to have these virtual coffee mornings once a month. If there is interest, we can also arrange to talk about specific topics that could be school-related or not.

Please sign up here so that we can send the Zoom call link to you.

Stay in Touch

Class representatives

Class representatives are an important link between parents, teachers and the PTO. They support the FIS community by helping with class events and informing parents about ways in which they can participate in various events. We have had an overwhelming response from interested parents but are still looking to fill the last spaces in the following classes: EY3B, 3C, 4A, 5B

If you have a child in any of these classes and are interested to help out please sign up here or contact .

Slack

Slack is the new platform the PTO uses to stay in touch with parents and for parents to stay in touch with each other. We have private chat groups for each grade (a bit like WhatsApp) and also a News and General section where we keep you up to date on important information, reminders for school events and upcoming activities for parents. If you haven’t already signed up, please do, and we will allocate you to your respective grade chat groups. Please sign up here.
