If you could travel anywhere in the universe, where would you go? And how do we actually know what we know about planets, stars, and galaxies?
These were just some of the questions explored in the latest episode of FIScast, featuring three Grade 4 students, their teachers Mrs. Kaushal and Mr. Piehler, and host Ms. Walters.
Building on their current classroom exploration of our solar system, the students brought plenty of knowledge and curiosity to the studio. The conversation travelled through black holes, Saturn’s rings, volcanoes on Venus, and the Voyager missions, before turning to a question that particularly captured their imagination: Could there be life somewhere else in the universe?
Along the way, the students explored how scientists gather information, how we build our understanding of the universe, and why some questions remain unanswered.
What made the conversation particularly interesting was not just what the students knew, but what they wanted to find out next. Their curiosity led to new ideas, unexpected questions, and plenty of lively discussion.
