Grade 5 Parent Transition Evening

The FIS is inviting all Grade 5 parents to a Parent Transition Night on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 18:00 to 19:00, regarding transition from Grade 5 in the Elementary School to Grade 6 in the Middle School.

The FIS utilizes the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework in Grades 6 to 10, which is well aligned with the Elementary School’s International Primary Curriculum (IPC) framework. This means that learning in the Middle School will continue to build upon the understandings, concepts and skills learned in the Elementary School, providing a smooth continuity of learning. In order to deepen your understanding of your child’s program of learning, please click the following link to the “IB MYP: Guide for parents”:

Sometimes, the transition between the structure of the homeroom environment of Elementary School and the different structure of school in the Middle School can be challenging for students, however, through close collaboration between the Elementary School and Middle School, we have developed a comprehensive programme that will support a positive transition for your son or daughter.

During the evening we will engage in dialogue around typical challenges faced by students during this transition, hear advice from Middle School students who have experienced the transition and explore the pastoral care planned to support your son’s or daughter’s transition.

In advance of the evening and for those parents not able to attend, below are a few pieces of important information:

In order to focus our conversation as comprehensively as possible on the night, we would be grateful if you could submit any important questions in advance via the online form.
