Grade 11 Extended Essay Season

Secondary

While Grade 12 are completing their final reflections and looking forward to their Extended Essay Celebration next month, Grade 11 are at the beginning of their Extended Essay (EE) journey. Following the EE launch in December where they were able to sit down with their potential supervisors and discuss the subject-specific requirements, Grade 11 submitted their EE proposals last Friday. These cover a wide range of topics such as Ghost World and the tenets of Absurdism (English A), the art of Emory Douglas and how it communicated the beliefs of the Black Panther movement (Visual Arts), finding the center of gravity of a homogenous tetrahedron with constant/varying densities (Maths) and the impact of whaling in Japan and Norway on the economy and Atlantic Ocean (World Studies).

In the meantime, the FIS hosted an Extended Essay Supervisor Workshop for new and existing EE supervisors last weekend. This very successful workshop was attended by 12 teachers from the FIS as well as several teachers from international schools in Augsburg, Leipzig and Munich.
