A warm welcome to you all for the School Year 2019-2020. Welcome back to all our returning families and a special welcome to our new families. I look forward to a wonderful year together as we support your children on their learning journey.
We have had a very settled start to the year – all the teachers and students have found their classrooms, new friendships are being forged and new routines and systems are being embedded. The whole school, as is tradition, has launched into a two week ‘Brainwave’ unit where all the students are learning about how the brain works and what they can do to make it work even better, and this, in turn, will help improve learning. Hopefully, your child has shared with you some of the exciting and engaging learning experiences they have taken part in already.
Our first meeting for the year takes place on September 4, 2019, and it is the Early Years and Elementary School Parent Information Night. The event is designed to give parents of students in Early Years and Elementary School the opportunity of meeting their child’s teachers, as well as to give all of the teachers the opportunity of presenting their programs and expectations for the school year.
Our format for the night is as follows: We will have an optional session from 18:30 to 19:00 for new parents to the school. During this time we will have information tables for the specialist subjects of German, Music, Sports, Art, Student Support, Counselling, and EAL set up. Parents are free to visit the tables and obtain information sheets about the subject and speak with representatives from each department during this time.
Also, from 18:30, the library will be open and parents will have the chance to speak with the librarians about the library program and upcoming events. Then, the main part of the Parent Information Night will begin at 19:00 in the Aula.
Schedule
19:00 – 19:20 Introduction in the Aula
19:20 – 19:45 Session 1: Presentations from Early Years and ES teachers
19:50 – 20:20 Session 2: Opportunity to visit homerooms to see the learning environment. Parents with more than one child in Early Years and/or Elementary School have the opportunity to visit the classroom of their second child and meet the teacher.
I hope to see you all on September 4. Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.
