Grade 5 Transition Events

In the coming weeks, we will begin taking steps to ensure an effective and thoughtful transition from Grade 5 into Grade 6 (FIS Secondary School). We had planned a number of events on campus, but due to considerations regarding COVID-19 we wanted to communicate how we will continue to support this process in a remote environment.

Parent/Student Information Night

We had planned:

  • Middle School Transition Information Night for Grade 5 students and parents (June 9, 2020)

 Instead, we have organized:

  • A recorded Grade 5 parent transition Zoom Q&A session led by the Middle School PTO representatives with Middle School Principal and Assistant Principal. (Video and letter will be sent to all Grade 5 families on June 9, 2020)

Grade 5 Student Transition Afternoon

We had planned:

  • Transition afternoon for all Grade 5 students, led by Middle School students to share important insight about Grade 6 (June 15, 2020).

 Instead, we have organized:

  • Video advice from Grade 6, 7, and 8 students sharing what they think is important and topics they see as important for the transition to Grade 6. Topics will include MYP courses, iPads, schedules, daily transitions, and digital citizenship (Videos and presentations will be sent to all Grade 5 families on June 15, 2020).

In order to enable us to focus our conversations and transition events as comprehensively as possible in the coming weeks, we would be grateful if you could submit any important questions in advance via the online form here.
