Best Wishes for the Year Ahead

Dear Students, Parents, Colleagues and Friends of the FIS,

The start of a new year at the FIS is always marked by energy – classrooms quickly return to their rhythm, conversations resume, and learning moves forward. As 2026 gets underway, it is encouraging to see the focus, engagement, and sense of purpose already present across our school.

In the second half of this school year our school community will focus on shaping new guiding statements for the FIS – in our case our Mission and Vision, International Mindedness Statement and our Definition of High Quality Learning. You can find all current ones on the FIS Website.

At an international school, guiding statements play a central role in shaping both the school’s identity and its day-to-day practice. Their importance goes beyond being symbolic; they function as a shared compass for an often very diverse community.

We started drafting a new Mission and Vision statement in a workshop with our Board Members and Extended Leadership Team (ELT) facilitated by Abbi DeLessio, an external consultant from Triangle Associates. Drafts versions will be presented to students, staff and parents for feedback during the first quarter of this calendar year. We are looking forward to this exciting project ahead.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. I wish you and your families a healthy, fulfilling, and positive year ahead.

Warm regards,

Petra Niemczyk
Head of School
