A Poem on the Lockdown

Student Voice

Priyankha Kamalakannan, a Grade 5 student, writes an inspiring poem about the lockdown.

Doors closing, blinds down,
A child walking by with a sad frown.
Social distance, masks on,
All the people long gone.

Big parties all banned,
This is the government’s command.
We all know that this wasn’t planned,
A situation some cannot understand.

Creating economic distress,
Everybody struggling to progress.
Families conscious of health,
The true meaning of wealth.

The importance of love and joy,
We cannot destroy.
Humans losing control,
Complicated futures ready to unfold.

At a time like this, hand in hand,
We hope we withstand.
Let us not drown,
Together we will beat this LOCKDOWN.
