20th Anniversary Events

20th

Twenty years it has been. Twenty incredible years filled with memories of extraordinary students and their eagerness to discover and learn, of staff striving to make a difference every single day, of parents supporting their children through thick and thin. Success doesn’t come in a day, that is as true for staff, as for students and parents. Nonetheless, in the past twenty years, these people have built a community, connected through their mutual differences and similarities. An anniversary that calls for a big celebration…or rather celebrations. As announced, this school year will be filled with festivities, rejoicing the FIS’ past, present and future!

November 2018 - Posters and Videos about the FIS' Past and the Present

Posters and videos made by Middle School students will be published on ManageBac and possibly displayed in the school. Grade 7’s are currently working on multiple videos, showing the FIS’ story over the past twenty years. The students are interviewing teachers for this project and are including many pictures from the 1998 to 2017 yearbooks. Grade 8’s are being very creative, by making double exposure posters, comparing pictures of the FIS’ past and the present.

December 2018 - CAS Christmas Market

After last year’s first edition, we’ve decided to stick with the format which proved to be very successful but to give it a celebratory twist. The CAS Christmas market will be organized on Saturday, December 1, from 11:30 to 16:00 in the Aula. This market is completely student-led, whereas the beloved Advent Cafe is run by the PTO.

Spring 2019 - Anniversary Issue of the FIS Magazine

The seventh edition will be distributed at the end of January, beginning of February and will be to keep on your bookshelf for many years! What does a day in the life of a FIS student look like? What made pioneer parents decide to enroll their child(ren) at this new international school back in 1998? How has a lesson changed over the past twenty years? Which role do wellbeing and mindfulness play at the FIS today? These are just some of the questions we’ll be answering in the next GO!FIS.

March 2019 - Art Exhibition

Every year, the IB students present their works of art – whether they’re paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos, etc. – at an exhibition open to the public. This event has been put in a new format as well: Not only will the exhibition be dedicated to the 20th Anniversary, but after displaying at the Kunstmuseum in Erlangen for the past two years, we’re bringing the exhibition back to its roots, back to the FIS and invite everyone to join from March 18 to 22. More information and opening hours will be published soon.

May 2019 - Sports Day and Golf Tournament

Forget about the Super Bowl, the Ryder Cup or the Olympics! The biggest sports event of the year will be organized by the FIS. The Sports Day will take us back to Herzogenaurach and will take place at the Gymnasium track and the Golf-Club Herzogenaurach. Release your inner LeBron James, Elena Romagnolo or Tiger Woods and join us on May 11, 2019. More details will be announced soon.

June 2019 - International Festival

We’re concluding the celebratory year with a two-day International Festival at the end of June. The FIS facilities will be transformed into a festival terrain with stages, food trucks and fun activities. Our Performing Arts Department, in cooperation with Bridging Arts, local bands and musicians will take care of entertainment for all ages. The Festival will be a unique event and the icing on the cake of this special year. An absolute must for each community member! More details to follow.

tba - Photo Exhibition, Flash mob, Director's Symposium

We are working on more events to happen and as announced in the first Anniversary article back in September, a new post regarding the Anniversary will be published on the 20th of each month.
