Visit by Composer and Conductor Gordon Hamilton

In-House

Last week, the FIS had the pleasure of welcoming composer and conductor Mr. Gordon Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton, the artistic director of the “Australian Voices,” regularly performs with international orchestras such as the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.

During his visit, Mr. Hamilton conducted various workshops on composing and conducting, attended by students from FIS Secondary School music classes and interested Primary School students. He also presented his artistic work to the FIS community in various assemblies.

I received many valuable tips on how to improve my own compositions and implement them in music software.” – Philipp Hey, G9.

A highlight was the Piano Masterclass on Monday afternoon, where six piano students had the opportunity to present a piece and have a personal discussion with Mr. Hamilton. Both myself and my older brother Philipp from G9 were part of it.

It was a truly special experience. Naturally, I was very nervous, but in the end, everything went well. Mr. Hamilton provided me with guidance on improving my performance, and it was fascinating to witness how he quickly analyzed and interpreted the pieces presented.”

We express our gratitude to the FIS for making this exceptional encounter possible.

We thank our student Luis Hey, G5, for sharing this article with us.
