GISST Varsity Boys Basketball Tournament

Sports

Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player in history, remarked that “talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”   Indeed, it was the talent of the Varsity Boys Basketball Team that pushed them to six back to back game wins in Ulm last weekend, but, as Jordan observed, it was down to teamwork and mindset that led the FIS to win the overall championship and to take the trophy.

Trailing their opponents for only the third time in the tournament, the team mounted a third quarter comeback to best Leipzig, 66-50 in the end.  The end was sweet for everyone, but especially for our two Grade 12 players who are ending their FIS athletics career with a triumph.  The weekend was a pleasure to take part in, and we sincerely hope that more players will participate in FIS athletics to have the chance to hone their skills, be competitive, and most importantly spend time truly cultivating some spirit and energy in the pursuit of teamwork.  Congratulations, team!
