G12 Trip to Venice (History and Geography Students)

Secondary

Last week, our IB DP historians and geographers embarked on an unforgettable educational trip to Venice! Students explored iconic landmarks like the Rialto Bridge, Doge’s Palace, and the Basilica of Saint Anthony, soaking in the rich cultural and historical atmosphere of the city. A scenic boat ride added to the Venetian charm, making it a trip full of memorable experiences.

For history students, visits to museums and statues of key Italian figures brought their studies to life. One of the major highlights for all was the visit to the University of Padova, where the G12 students enjoyed a historical tour of the campus, while also starting to think about their own future university choices.

Meanwhile, the geographers took on new challenges, from navigating the city entirely by foot to conducting fieldwork. Students gathered EQI values, examined flood protection measures, and even collected water samples from the canals to test pH levels. This hands-on experience gave them a chance to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings, making it a truly enriching adventure.

It was a perfect blend of education, exploration, and inspiration for our IB DP students!

The long journey was definitely lively, with plenty of conversations and activities to keep us entertained — and they even ran into a FIS alum! To call it a “textbook come to life” is an absolute understatement.
