We are delighted to invite you to the Grade 12 DP Art Exhibition, a celebration of creativity, dedication, and artistic courage.
Each year, our Grade 12 IB Diploma Programme Art students curate and present a professional exhibition as part of their final assessment. This year’s exhibition opens with a vernissage on Monday, 23 March at 17:00, and we encourage all students, staff, and families to join us for this special event. The exhibition will remain open daily until Thursday, 26 March.
While the exhibition is an examination requirement, it is also an opportunity for our seven Higher Level and two Standard Level artists to share their creative journeys with the FIS community. Through painting, digital media, sculpture, and printmaking, they explore personal themes, refined techniques, and bold ideas, the result of months of experimentation, reflection, and perseverance.
Throughout the course, students have drawn inspiration from some of the world’s most celebrated artistic traditions. They visited galleries in Berlin and travelled to Madrid to experience the renowned Golden Triangle of Art, including the classical Museo del Prado, the eclectic Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and the modern Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. These experiences helped shape and deepen their artistic thinking.
Andrew Hatt-Cooney, Head of Department Visual Art, reflects: “I am truly impressed by the standard of work our students are exhibiting this year. Creating art is never an easy process, but their perseverance, enthusiasm, and the many extra hours spent developing ideas in the art room have clearly paid off.”
We hope you will join us on Monday, March 23 to celebrate the creativity, commitment, and achievements of our young artists. Your presence will mean a great deal to them and you will not want to miss the opportunity to experience their remarkable work firsthand.
