Guided Tour of King City Forchheim
Discover one of the oldest cities in Franconia! Forchheim has preserved a historic appearance from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, with its many half-timbered houses and fortifications. Experience more than 1,200 years of history of the city first hand.
Lunch on Christmas Market
The Christmas market with the “most beautiful advent calendar in the world” brings pre-Christmas splendor to Forchheim. The town square is surrounded by the many small booths – about 25 in number – cozy mulled wine and gingerbread or Frankish Bratwurst can enjoy a historical setting. Even more culinary delights as Feuerzangenbowle, Glühbier, to Hungarian and French specialties, pamper the visitor. We will grab lunch on one of the stalls. A wide range of Christmas gifts, Christmas decorations such as Christmas tree ornaments, candy and toys is offered on the picturesque market.
Follow Christmas Cribs’Way
Discover mechanical Franconian nativity scene, built by master gilder Georg Fuchs from Forchheim in 1892 to 1895. Since 1933, the crib has been firmly installed and open to the public. There are two other cribs to be seen in the center of the town and even a living nativity scene! In all, there are no fewer than ten Christmas cribs to admire in Forchheim.
