Message from the Board of Directors – Congratulations Petra Niemczyk!

Dear Students, Parents and Staff of the FIS Community,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to share an important and exciting update regarding the leadership of the Franconian International School. Please join me in congratulating Petra Niemczyk, who has been appointed as Head of School on a permanent basis with immediate effect.

Petra has been a cornerstone of the FIS since its founding over 25 years ago. Her deep institutional knowledge, unwavering commitment to our mission, and her ability to lead with care and clarity have made her an invaluable part of our school’s journey. Since stepping into the role of Interim Head of School in March 2024, Petra has provided steady, thoughtful leadership during a time of transition. She has earned the trust and respect of students, staff, and families alike.

Petra’s leadership is grounded in the values that define the FIS – caring, curiosity, respect, integrity, and belonging. She is committed to continuing to role model these values in every aspect of school life, and to continue guiding our community with vision, empathy, and purpose moving forward.

After completing a comprehensive evaluation process – including formal performance review and extensive interviews with representatives across key stakeholders in the school community – the Board has unanimously concluded that the most qualified and best candidate for the job is the one who has been doing the job for over a year, and she has clearly earned this opportunity.

We are confident that under Petra’s leadership, the FIS will continue to thrive as a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking international school.

Please join us in congratulating Petra on this well-deserved appointment!

Best regards,
Jonathan Cavalier
Chair, Board of Directors
