Dear Students, Parents, Colleagues and Friends of the FIS,
As we approach the final weeks of the school year and prepare for the last break before summer, I would once again like to take this opportunity to address our wonderful FIS community through the Newsletter.
The final stretch of the academic year has begun, and there is already so much to celebrate. In particular, I would like to highlight one of our core FIS values: Belonging. Over the past weeks, this value came vividly to life during the two outstanding performances of Annie JR.
The atmosphere in the Theater was truly unique and inspiring. Our students captivated the audience with their brilliant acting, singing, and dancing, demonstrating remarkable passion, wit, creativity, and talent throughout both performances. From the imaginative costumes and props to the hairstyles and make-up, every detail reflected the tremendous dedication behind the production.
Equally impressive was the work happening behind the scenes. Our student stage crew played an essential role in bringing the musical to life, showing once again what can be achieved through teamwork, commitment, and shared purpose.
A very special thank you goes to our Drama Teacher, Ellie Nias, for directing this memorable production, and to the entire Performing Arts Department under the leadership of Head of Department Jenny Raine. Thanks to their vision, dedication, and countless hours of work, a long-awaited musical returned to the FIS stage.
Although auditions began many months ago, it was the true team effort throughout the process that created such a strong sense of belonging and contribution to the wider FIS community. Students, teachers, staff members, parents, families, and friends all came together to celebrate the success of the performances with enormous enthusiasm. Many described it as the best FIS performance in years.
What made this production even more special was the commitment shown by everyone involved. Rehearsals took place after school hours and even during a weekend yet when students and staff feel connected to their school and community, spending this time together becomes something joyful and meaningful.
Altogether, Annie JR. was a wonderful example of seeing our FIS values lived out in practice. And if you would like to hear more from our cast and crew, you can listen to the latest episode of the FIScast.
As we look ahead, there is still much to enjoy and celebrate together in the coming weeks. Exams are finishing, Graduation Day is approaching, G10 students are preparing for their Paris trip, and we also look forward to our Staff Appreciation Lunch and upcoming Community Days. More information on these events will follow soon, so please stay tuned.
For now, I would like to wish all members of our FIS community a relaxing and enjoyable break. Thank you for your continued support, energy, and commitment to making our school such a special place to belong.
Warm regards,
Petra Niemczyk
