Music at FIS came alive as students across the school had the opportunity to work with visiting composer Gordon Hamilton. Known for his bold blend of orchestral and electronic music, Gordon has collaborated with ensembles around the world and is celebrated for his creative, genre-crossing approach to composition.
Individual and small-group sessions gave our music students the chance to share their projects, discuss their compositions, and refine their work through hands-on collaboration. Gordon’s thoughtful feedback and open exchange of ideas inspired students to explore new directions and think more deeply about the creative process.
Our Primary students joined Gordon for an engaging assembly where he demonstrated how to compose, answered questions, and had great fun experimenting with the Odd Ball.
Gordon’s visit was a wonderful example of how creativity and inquiry go hand in hand – encouraging students to think critically, experiment boldly, and connect their learning through the arts.
A heartfelt thank you to Gordon Hamilton for sharing his expertise, enthusiasm, and passion for music with our community!
