PTO Trip to the Castell Vineyards

PTO

On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, the PTO took a group of 16 to a wonderful journey through the Castell vineyard. The eponym family, which can be traced back to the 11th century, has managed this domain since the 13th century. Castell vineyard is specialized in white wine and has elevated the Silvaner grape “Ambassador of the Franconian wine” to new heights.

Luckily, the weather was perfect, and the group could admire the glorious autumnal colors while leisurely wandering through the vineyard and tasting some delicious wines. Our guide finally led us through the odorant wine cellar where we could hear the characteristic gurgling noise made by the fermenting process. We could admire the beautiful wood barrels, adorned with some family crests or an ancestor profile. We all finished in the attached restaurant, enjoying a wonderful lunch with local and seasonal products. The company was great, men and women from so many different countries, and we all enjoyed this little trip out of our daily routine.

Thank you PTO for making it happen!
