Responsibilities:
Curriculum Leadership
- Be highly visible and supportive inside and outside classrooms and at school events
- Ensure that IB mandated policies are understood and followed consistently by all stakeholders
- Lead on the tracking of year group progress and collaborate with the pedagogical leadership team on suitable action
- Monitor the implementation of expected approaches to assessment, analysing and sharing with the pedagogical leadership team to collaboratively improve learning and teaching in the MYP years
- Support Head of Curriculum with the vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum for respective curricular areas
- Support Head of Curriculum with the planning of the overall curriculum
- Support Head of Curriculum with the implementation of curriculum – teaching, learning and assessment
- Support Head of Curriculum with the analysis and evaluation of vertically and horizontally aligned curriculum to improve learning and teaching
- Together with the Head and other Deputy Heads of Curriculum, ensure that curriculum-related requirements and standards for re-accreditation
- Support Head of Curriculum with overviewing, developing and implementing alternative pathways in grades 6 to 10
- Ensure that all stakeholders in the community are well-informed in relation to the above matters
IB Middle Years Programme Leadership
- Be the named school ‘MYP Coordinator’
- Role model all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment in the MYP, giving guidance accordingly
- Lead continued MYP development at the school in close liaison with IB Continuum Coordinator and all stakeholders, in alignment with FIS values and guiding statements as well as IB philosophy, programme standards and practices
- In liaison with the IB Continuum Coordinator and other IB Programme Coordinators plan the long-term development of the MYP within the school
- Together with the IB Continuum Coordinator implement cyclical monitoring based around the IB MYP 5-year review cycle
- Co-lead with IB Continuum Coordinator on MYP evaluation
- Organize and conduct all aspects of mock and formal MYP e-assessments including examinations and oversight of assessment calendar
- Manage and monitor the efficient course selection process in relevant year groups
- Manage the post-examination administrative requirements including availability during exam results publication week and follow up communication
- Coach and lead curricular leaders and teachers in the understanding and implementation of the MYP in their curricular areas
- Lead, support and plan rich ongoing professional learning opportunities for staff, to support the development and implementation of the MYP including guiding new staff during their induction
- Advise teachers on participation in appropriate MYP courses
- Stay well-informed of current developments in the MYP
- Ensure that all stakeholders in the community are well-informed in relation to the above matters
Teaching
- Teach and manage the educational program relevant to subject and grade level(s) based on the FIS curriculum and as required by the Head of School
The ideal candidate
- Ability to role model successful teaching in Grades 6-10
- Role modeling approaches to learning skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the IB MYP
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Enhanced MYP, ideally as a participant of the Beta trial group
- Proven successful curriculum leadership experience and expertise
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, curricular leaders and all other leadership roles
- Previous experience in international schools

We consider IBEN training as programme or evaluation leader or as workshop facilitator as an advantage for this role and we would support candidates with their application should they wish to pursue this route.
