About five years ago, I lost a friend in a drowning accident. My friend was more like a younger sibling to me at that time, and the loss was devastating. Ever since, I wanted to raise awareness about water safety, particularly among children.
The FIS’s Model United Nations (MUN) group will be hosting an in-house conference for grades 7-11 to participate in!
Whilst many of us dream of sunny holiday destinations this time of the year, our Grade 9 Geography students had an opportunity to immerse themselves into the actual business side of the travel and holiday industry. As part of the FIS’s commitment to authentic learning, the students prepared and presented business proposals for tourism resorts.
The Grade 8 students visited the Industriemuseum in Lauf on Tuesday, April 25. Ranging from interactive learning opportunities such as the electromagnetic mini-motor building to a guided tour on the history of industrialisation, the students developed engineering skills and discovered the 1950s lifestyle. A wonderful event for Grade 8 students to remember and cherish!
This year’s Summer Sports Camp will take place from July 10 – 14, Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 12:00noon. Students who are currently in EY4 to G7 may attend.
Get ready to mark your calendars because we’ve got an exciting event coming up – Community Days on June 5 – 7! Our team is working hard putting together an unforgettable experience for all of our students, parents, and community members. All students will be off timetable for these three days. June 7 will be the culmination of the days and will be a festival-style event named FIS Fest.
We would like to have as much parental involvement as possible and we need YOUR help!
The Grade 12 final assembly was an unforgettable experience, filled with a mix of emotions and memories as we looked back on our journey together. From the very first day of school to this very moment, we have shared countless moments that will stay with us forever.
I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing break. The last quarter is always an exciting and busy one at this FIS. This Newsletter will present some of the exciting and unique service and experiential learning opportunities that exist at the FIS, such as Get Caught Reading, BookBridge Book exchange, and the Karni und Nickel theater performance. You will also receive information on our Community Days that take place June, 5 – 7, and we look forward to sharing more information over the coming days.
At the time of writing, we are coming to the end of the last week of regular classes for Grade 12.
