International Curricula - Internationally recognised Certificates & Diplomas

The community at the FIS provides a friendly and caring environment, where the academic and personal well-being of each student is nurtured. We aim to prepare our students to become citizens of the world; our school is concerned with the development of the whole child as an individual and as a member of the community. As an IB world school, the core values of the FIS are international mindedness, respect for all cultures, responsible global citizenship and equipping students with the tools for life-long learning.

Students at the Franconian International School can gain the following diplomas and certificates; internationally-recognised qualifications which are accepted by higher-learning institutions and employers around the world:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Bilingual Diploma
  • IB Diploma
  • IB Certificates
  • FIS High School Diploma
  • IGCSE (International General Certificates of Secondary Education)

Both the IB Diploma and the IGCSE  are recognised internationally as school leaving certificates. Students who graduate with IB Diplomas routinely gain admission to some of the best known universities in the world. As well, under certain conditions, both the IB and the IGCSE can be transcribed in Munich by the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Culture as equivalent to the Bavarian Abitur and Realschulabschluss (Mittlere Reife) respectively. The FIS High School Diploma is recognised for entry into a number of American colleges through our accreditation with New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), as well as in Bavaria as equivalent to Realschulabschluss. As well, in combination with a SAT score of 1300 or above, a FIS High School Diploma is recognised for study in German universities.

In the Elementary School and Kindergarten, the FIS uses the International Primary Curriculum, a world-class, comprehensive and practical thematic curriculum which delivers academic, personal and international knowledge, skills and understanding.
